Hello Everyone in the HR Comunity,
What do you do when as an HR Manager you face subtle harassment from some Managers because they don't like your role as a watch dog. If you happen to point their mistake in order to take corrective action, they start making personal attacks at you, what do you? Is it clear that it is time to move on? or as an HR Manager, we should practice what we preach others to bring up this issue to higher ups(knowing the higher ups may not support you)? Looking for some feedback, CB

Dear CB,
In my humble opinion, my advice is always do the right thing. Remember that you are in a unique position of setting the example for others. If we in HR cannot stand up for what is right, then how can we expect others to? Without knowing the details, I imagine it is a very difficult situation you are in. If you feel that you will not be supported, be sure to document everything. While they may not be accountable to anyone in the company, they also can be held accountable.

Thanks DG. I took upon the challenge of making my feelings very clear to the boss today. I didn't care if he fired me. He actually first got defensive and later asked the other manager to apologize to me. I don't think the apology was heart felt but it was something. I atleast made it clear that I am not going to take any nonsense from anyone. I am yet to confront the big boss on some of his insensitive comments but may be I will share them when I leave form here. Hopefully soon Thanks CB
