Employee is wanting to nurse her baby while out of town on a business/sales trip. She is willing to take her mother as caregiver for her baby at her own expense. She intends to fullfill all the requirements of attending meetings, networking, etc. Company says no, but that she can take the baby and hire a caregiver in the city where the meetings are being conducted. What recourse does this employee have? If she misses her meeting, it could prove detrimental to her meeting career and sales goals, etc.

What is your company policy on allowing a spouse to travel with an employee on business trips? If all expenses are being paid by the employee, and the company has given the ok for the child to go where is the problem. Is the company allowing the employee time to screen candidates if she is to hire a caregiver at the meeting city?
