many of the factories that manufacture our products are located in asia. it is common for our sales; managers to travel back and forth between the u.s. and china, taiwan, etc., throughout the year. the business culture in asia is very different from the u.s., and we have had inexperienced travelers put into compromising situations in the "after business hours" setting. 've been advised that it is perceived to be rude if visitors do not engage in the same behavior as the hosts, as they consider this after hours setting to be their way of building the business relationship.

we were considering putting a policy in our company handbook to address business conduct outside the office. this would give our employees who travel something to point to when compromising situations arise.

has anyone had similar occurrences with global travel?

thanks,

Lgrosser
