If an employee has at least $1,000.00 worth of equipment at their home and we have already terminated that person, how do we collect it. When we terminated the employee, he/she said that they left it at home as well as the key to the building. I told the person that I would schedule a time for someone to pick it up that same day. I called twice on that day and there was no return phone call. I called today and still no answer.

How do any of you out there retrieve equipment from your ex-employee? I might add that this person was an exempt employee so there was a high level of trust involved. Management always had equipment in their truck...I'm not sure why this person didn't have it in their vehicle. When that person goes to jobs, they have the equipment that they need to do their job.

Anyone got any advice.

Thanks,
AJ

Definitely consult legal on this, but I have always been told that in order to get it back, we would have to do a police report and go to small claims.
