How does ADA affect my Employee? Expand / Collapse

Fellow HR Professionals,

I have an employee who is missing work due to a previous medical clearance which allowed her to work for only 6 hours per day. As a new HR Manager to this company, I verified the previous record and it had no stop date for the claim. When I asked for an updated medical clearance she came back with a workers compensation claim from her previous employment which stated she was 9% permanently disabled. My questions are:

1. How does her previous work comp claim affect her new employment...ie ADA?
2. Am I legally ok to keep asking for verification of medical clearance to the extent of giving her a deadline to submit her information to me.

Thanks for your support
