| We have offered OT for anyone who worked on Saturday. One of our employees took a vacation day on Friday (which we are paying him the vacation time off) and then came to work on Saturday. Do I still pay him OT for Saturday, if he didn't work on Friday?

| You only have to pay overtime for hours worked over 40 a week or 8 in a day (the only exception is if you have an alternative workweek in place). So if the employee did not work and Saturday completes the 40 hour workweek then you are not required to pay overtime for that day.

| I recently researched this and you only have to pay overtime for hours actually worked. If you dinked his PTO bank for Friday he will be paid for 8 hours on that day but it doesn't count toward total hours worked when figuring overtime. Otherwise people could have more of a field day than they already do.

| Hello- in CA it's OT for anything over 40 in a workweek (important distinction, workweek) and OT for anything over 8 in a day, so you may or may not have to pay OT- it would depend on if they will go over 40 productive hours for the workweek at any point that Saturday.
