We have a very diverse group of employees speaking several different languages(6). All have some english language knowledge, however, prefer to speak in their native language. Management wants to start an "English Only" policy during work hours. We have read the many pros and cons regarding implementing and enforcing the policy. We are a manufacturing company and would like feed back from others who can provide pros and cons in the matter and if they have a plan in place, how is it enforced across the board for ALL employees.

Why is it necessary to speak English only during work time?
It's a bad idea, not unless any area in your operations suffered because there's use of multiple language, it will be hard to justify English only policy.
In fact sometimes it might even be helpful to allow employees with a common language other than English to use their own language when communicating with each other for clearer instructions and better understanding.
