Can someone help me with this? What does the law say about what "has" to go in the Employee Confidential file, what goes in the Medical file, and what goes in the Personnel file? Also does the Medical file and Confidential file have to be filed in a seperate file cabinet from the Personnel file? Can the Confidential and Medical be together?

And last can you keep copies of employees driver's license, and SS cards with their I-9 forms?

RE I-9:

Keep the completed I-9 Form in a common file for all employees rather than separately in each employee’s personnel file. The forms will then be easily accessible for an audit by immigration or labor officials. This practice also keeps information out of view of managers and supervisors who have no need to know an employee’s national origin or immigration status.
