You might want to look into the state Work Share program. You can furhlough 10% of your staff for at least 10% of their hours. The employees apply for unemployment for the hours not worked. You must apply for the Work Share program with the EDD. No cost to the employer. We have been using Work Share for nearly a year and it has worked well for us. Our employees take one day during each 2 week pay period (10% of 80 hours) they send in their certificate and received $90 from the state EDD. Check it out on line.
