This year, December 31, 2010 falls on a Friday, thus New Years Day falls on a Saturday and in 2011.

As we are trying to determine if our organization will count December 31, 2010 as a holiday for New Year's Day, our CEO & President would like to know what other companies are doing. I shared with him that the U.S. Office of Personnel in D.C. is counting December 31, 2010 as a New Year's Holiday since businesses tend to mirror headquarters, but he's more concerned with our area.

How is your company handling the New Year's Holiday?

Our company will not be closed on New Years Eve because we are open Monday - Saturday. Those employees that do not work on Saturday will be given an extra floating holiday. As this is what we are doing for Christmas 2010 also. We are open on Christmas Eve but will be closed on Christmas Day.
