| We have two locations so sometimes paperwork for the personnel files ends up in one locations and other documents for the files end up in the corporate location where they belong. If we choose to have a files in each location what documents are appropriate to have in our production facility? I obviously want all the paperwork and the actual originals to be in the corporate office.

| Our corporate office mainly holds payroll information. This includes new hire packet, pay raise, W-2, I-9 and benefits enrollment deduction agreement etc… Our offices where the employee work will have a Personnel file (under lock and key) that will have any write ups, emergency contact information and possible copies of things they have submitted to our corporate payroll department. It’s important to keep the Personnel file information together because when you have an angry employee that you terminated and they request to see their personnel file… you want to make sure that anything the employee signed is viewable for them.
