We have an at-will policy and a sales consultant refused to go to a 2 day in office training after instructed to do so.
After an evaluation, this employee did not provide the right information to client with regard to our services, because of this he was instructed to go to an in-office training where he refused. He was advised by not going to training would be caused for termination due to insubordination.
Now he is claiming for EDD and EDD has made a determination that he had good cause for leaving the job. I am in the process of appeal, any advise?

Bring any documentation you have. Any paperwork and policies you may have in your handbook will be helpful
Was the training meeting far from his sales area? Was the company willing to pay for miles to commute to this meeting if it is not the normal office he reports to?
EDD looks at who “blinks” first and if the employee “quit” the EDD agent will ask this question, would a reasonable person leave this job? You sort of have to prove that you were not demanding too much of this employee
